Birney's colored regiment in Maryland, has been apprehended and committed to jail in default of $1,000 bail to answer a charge of having enticed slaves to desert their masters. Major Gen. Beast Butler and family, with friends, started in a private carriage from Lowell, on Monday, for the White Mountains, with the intention of being absent about ten days. Fred.
