An intense excitement at Charleston, on account of a rumor that the sloop-of-war Brooklyn was dispatched for that place.
Great preparations are made to receive her. The buoys in the harbor are removed, and threats are made to fire on the ship.
A steam-tug called the Aid left the wharf to-night for the purpose of reconnoitring.
She is mounted with one gun, and is under the command of Lieut. Hamilton, formerly of the Federal navy.
Fort Moultrie is being rapidly put in order by a large force of workmen.

The Ninety-third regiment of New York Volunteers, (Morgan Rifles,) under the command of Colonel John T. Crocker, left Albany for the scene of active service.
The regiment embraces three companies from Washington county, two from Warren, one from Essex, one from Saratoga, Fulton and Hamilton, one from Oneida and Albany, one from Alleghany, and one from Rensselaer.
There are five full companies of sharpshooters, and a large proportion of the other companies are good shots.
Colonel Crocker is a lawyer by profession, and a native of Cambridge, Washington county.
He was for a long time Colonel of the Thirtieth regiment N. Y.S. M.

The One Hundred and Sixty-ninth regiment of New York volunteers, commanded by Col. Clarence Buel, left Camp Corcoran, at Troy, for the seat of war.--The One Hundred and Fifty-seventh regiment New York State volunteers, Col. Philip P. Brown, left Hamilton for Washington City.--The Convention of loyal Governors, at Altoona, Pa., adjourned to meet again in Washington, D. C.
Sabine Pass, Texas, was this day attacked and captured by the United States steamer Kensington, under the command of Acting Master Crocker, assisted by the mortar-boat Henry Janes, and blockading schooner Rachel Seaman.--See Supplement.
Judge T. W. Thomas, in the Superior Court, Elbert County, Georgia, in the case of James M. Lovinggood, decided that the rebel conscript act was unconstitutional, and that, therefore, the plaintiff was entitled to his liberty.
