An Exciting race --Yesterday afternoon, about 7½ o'clock, private Judkins, of Hankins's Battery now near this city, presented himself at the Passport Office and attempted to obtain a pass on a forged furlough. The trick being at once detected by the clerk, he was threatened with Castle Thunder, when he broke from the office and ran down 9th street, pursued by detectives Curtis and Burke, who fired several shots at him, none of which, however, took effect. On arriving at the corner of Capitol and 9th streets Judkins ran down in the direction of the City Hall, near which he was over taken and returned to the Provost Marshal's office, and from thence sent to Castle Thunder.
