It is famous for steamboat building, and its iron foundries and machine shops. A heavy wholesale business is transacted at this point, in dry goods and merchandize of all kinds, and New Albany has always been considered the most prosperous city on the Ohio River below Cincinnati, with the exception of Louisville.
