City Council. --A regular monthly meeting of the City Council was held yesterday afternoon. Messrs. Saunders, Haskins, Hill, Wynne, Burr, Scott, Crutchfield, and Griffin were present. Mr. Glazebrook also appeared, but obtained leave of absence. Mr. Eppes was detained at home by sickness. Superintendent of Streets.--Mto the Superintendent of Streets shall be exercised and performed by the City Engineer until the further order of the Council. Sick Soldiers.--On motion of Mr. Hill, the following resolution was adopted: Resolved, That all prescriptions marked for that purpose, and signed by a physician, for medicine for soldiers locat next week, making half hourly trips between 9th street and Rocketts. On motion of Mr. Scott, it was Resolved, That the Committee on Oak wood Cemetery be instructed to appropriate a lot for the interment of such soldiers as may die in the city or the county of Henrico. On motion of Mr. Hill, the Council adjourned.

Hill and Robert M Burton, whose estimable qualities, kindness of heart, and usefulness as citizens, had endeared them to all who knew them, Therefore keitt. Resolved. That the members of this Court deplore their loss and tender to the afflicted of the deceased their heartfelt sympathy for the irreparable calamity they have sustained. Resolved, That the Clerk of this Court transmit a copy of there proceedings to the families of our departed friends, and enter the same on record.

City Council. --A regular monthly meeting of the City Council was held in the council chamber yesterday. Present--Messrs. Saunders, (president,) Winn, Epps, Griffin, Crutchfield, Stokes, Denoon, Haskins, Greanor, and Hill. The committee on city defences made a report in regard to the condition of the fortifications, and the arrangements they had made for future operations. It contains a statement of facts which we think it not improper to omit publishing. Mr. Haskins submitted a reportaised as to the policy of completing the work already commenced. Laid on the table. Authority was given to the finance committee to take Confederate bonds, running ten years, for the sum of $50,000 loaned by the city to the Confederate States. Mr. Hill offered a resolution appropriating $50,000 for the purpose of clothing the city volunteers now in the field. The Committee on Arms was authorized to carry out the resolution, (absent, Mr. Griffin,) and to act in concert with any like committee
The Hustings Court commenced its regular monthly session, in the City Hall, yesterday. After transacting some routine business, the court proceeded to elect two aldermen in the place of Messrs. Charles B. Hill and Robert M. Burton. E. A. J. Clopton was chosen for Jefferson Ward, and William F. Butler for Madison Ward.-- Messrs. John M. Francisco, Cadmus C. Johnson, and G. W. H. Tyler, Commissioners of the Revenue, appeared to answer a presentment made against them by the grand jury at the last term of the court, for negligence in the discharge of their duties, and, by the advice of the court, the attorney for the Commonwealth entered a nolle prosequi in each case. As we were instrumental in bringing these gentlemen before the court, it affords us pleasure to record their acquittal.--A nol. pros. was also entered in each of the cases of E. W. Usher, B. Shafer, Joseph Hulcher, F. Linkhauer, W. H. Haywood. B. W. Totty. --Wm. Byrd, a free negro, charged with stealing $265 in bank
