gth, the train was ready to move off, the Rev. Mr. Platt, of the Episcopal Church, delivered the following brief and solemn address: "Soldiers! Go forth upon your mission of defence, strong and sustained in the mighty convictions of right. In these thrice are you armed. The history of our flag is yet to be written, and you are a portion of the brave men who are to achieve its victories and establish its glory. Be prayerful to God, and with your souls washed in the precious blood of His Son, be firm to the duty required by your country. Drive back the invaders from our soil, and the most deep prayers of mothers, sisters and wives will hourly ascend to the God of battles for your safety and success. In the name of this vast multitude and of the whole community, I bid you farewell; and may God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost, bless, preserve and protect you." As the train moved slowly off, vociferations and cheers from thousands of voices rent the air.
