Vicious conduct. --Henry McGuire, James Christian and John Morrison were arrested by the watch on Tuesday night for allowing their hides to get full of corn juice, the latter article being the basis of an attack made by them on the warehouse of Messrs. E. Hubbard & Calonated opposite the Columbian Hotel. It is also charged against the parties that they pounded watchman John Dearfinger on the head with a slung-shot for interfering with their amusement. Considerable and confusion prevailed during the some furalture was roughly used, and there was a general tendency to disorder regretted. The examination was until to-morrow by the Mayor.
Swindling. --John C. Crewson, a young man wearing the garb of a soldier, is under arrest for swindling William H. Burton out of a $20 note. The offence is alleged to have been committed in the house of E. Hubbard & Co., on Cary street. The accused desired to borrow $3, and offered a tempting bonus for the use of it. Mr. Burton produced his $20 note, and Crewson is charged with handing it to some mysterious "Orderly Sergeant," who, instead of making change for it, put it in his pocket and made tracks. The Mayor, after a partial investigation, continued the case until this morning.
