or Thurston, Third North Carolina, received a painful contusion, but did not leave the field. Lieutenant-Colonel Ruffin, Thirteenth North Carolina, remained with his regiment on South Mountain, after receiving three painful wounds. Lieutenant-Colonel Betts, Thirteenth Alabama, was slightly wounded.
