He was twice married, (1) to Susanna, dau. of Capt. Josiah Parker, 28 Feb. 1711-12, by whom he does not appear to have had any children; (2d) to Priscilla, wid. of Joseph Hill, and dau. of Daniel Dana, 15 May 1740, by whom he had Daniel, b. 28 Mar. 1741; Mary, bap. 24 Oct. 1742, m. James Kettle 1 Dec. 1763; he d. and she m. Joseph Jeffries before 1790, and d. in Boston 2 or 3 Aug. 1825, a. 83, leaving children. In recording her death Dr. Holmes adds the remark, she was the last of the Gookin family in Cambridge. It is said by those who remember her, that although she possessed but a small estate, in her personal deportment she fully maintained the ancient dignity of her family.
