The joint resolution of the House authorizing the appointment of a Joint Committee of Finance of both houses to investigate the warehouse fire, was read and laid upon the table, for the reason that the Senate had already appointed a committee on the same subject, and therefore it was laid upon the table. Mr. Johnson submitted a resolution, tendering the use of the State Senate Chamber to the Senate of the Confederate States after the adjournment of the Legislature, and directing the Clerk (Mr. Davis) to inform that body of the action of the State Senate. Confederate States Congress. Thursday, March 19, 1863. Senate.--The Senate met at 12 o'clock, Mr. Hunter, of Va., in the chair. Prayer by Rev. Mr. Duncan, of the M. E. Church. The Senate took up for consideration the bill for the condemnation of cotton. On motion of Mr. Hill, of Ga., the same was transferred to the secret calendar. The Senate then took up the bill to establish the Court of Claims. The bill was read by sections, and the first section was adopted. The second section was then read; ponding the consideration of which. On motion of Mr. Johnson, of Ark., the Senate resolved itself into secret session. House of Representatives.--Immediately after the reading of the journal the House went into secret session, and resumed the consideration of the Tax bill.
