proceedings: Katy, slave of T. C. Lipscomb, charged with stealing two hundred dollars in Confederate States notes from Mary Burke, was ordered to be whipped. A slave of Philip White, named Randall, was up before. His Honor on the charge of threatening to assault and beat Robert Smith, a free negro. The testimony proved the guilt of the accused, and he was ordered to be whipped. John Kloss, white, was charged with shooting at, with intent to kill, another white man, named A. E. Jones; but, owing to the absence of witnesses, the case was continued till Monday, and the accused, in the meantime, held to bail in the sum of five hundred dollars. Jim, slave of W. B. Green, charged with stealing bacon, the property of William D. Gibson, was discharged, owing to the insufficiency of the evidence elicited on the occasion.
