--John H. Morgan, of Red River county, has been elected to Congress from the sixth district. S. E. Jones, eldest son of the lamented Anson Jones, formerly President of the Republic of Texas, is a private in the 2d Texas regiment. Col. G. W. Carter, of the 21st Texas cavalry, preached a sermon in the Methodist Church, in Houston, on September 27th. He has been in command of a brigade in Arkansas.
The Houston Telegraph publishes a list of forty or fifty persons who offer to sell corn at fifty cents per bushel to the families of soldiers.
