The Legislature. In the Senate, Joseph J. Graham, elected to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Col. William E. Peters, of the Forty-first District, appeared and took his seat. Mr. Alderson moved a resolution upon the expediency of exempting from taxation all non- commissioned officers and privates in the service. Mr. Keene asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill to reorganize the militia, which was referred to the Committee on Military Affairs. Mr. Carson introduced a resolution inviting Gen. John H. Morgan to a seat in the Senate Chamber, to be occupied by him at his pleasure, during his stay in Richmond. Messrs. Carson, Bruce, and Christian were appointed on the committee. The bill to amend the Code so as to provide for an election for the "Commonwealth Attorney in cities where it Courts are held, was amended and passed.
