They are all fine looking, and in their eagerness to acquire military knowledge frequently have voluntary drills, not being satisfied with the three regularly appointed ones for each day. Ten companies have been selected by the Governor to constitute the First Regiment of North Carolina Volunteers, and an election of field officers has taken place, resulting in the selection of D. H.
