Ga., parentage. In January, 1863, at the age of fourteen years, he enlisted in Company A, Capt. C. S. Lee, of the Sixth Alabama cavalry, Col. C. H. Colvin commanding, and served with this regiment tion, Deep Bottom, besides many others of less importance. He surrendered at Appomattox with General Lee's army. Since the war he has resided at Ninety-six, in that part of Abbeville county that ist Mountain, siege of Petersburg, charge on Fort Harrison, and in the retreat to Appomattox, where Lee's army surrendered. At the battle of Seven Pines he was so severely wounded by a minie ball in td at the Wilderness, and then General Bratton commanded until Appomattox), in Longstreet's corps, Lee's army, throughout the entire war. Dr. Brown is the only full surgeon now living in Anderson coun as a private and served as such during the remainder of the war, surrendering at Appomattox with Lee.
