navy. On Sunday, April 2, 1865, I received about noon a dispatch from Hon. S. K. Mallory, Secretary of the Navy, to the following effect: Have the corps of midshithe train. In the Mint. About the 6th of April, I received orders from Mr. Mallory to convey the treasure to Charlotte, N. C., and deposit it in the mint. Somat my connection with it was at an end. Upon attempting to telegraph back to Mr. Mallory for further orders, however, I found that Salisbury was in the hands of the disband. While waiting in Augusta I received a telegraphic dispatch from Mr. Mallory directing me to disband my command; but under the circumstances I declined tand found him calm and composed, and resolute to a degree. As soon as I saw Mr. Mallory he directed me to deliver the treasure to General Basil Duke, and disband my murmur escaped them, and they never faltered. Constitution. Mr. Slidell moved to take up his resolutions in effect censuring the President for not earlier sending the nomination of Mr. Holt as Secretary of War. The motion was objected to, and the resolution will come up at a future day. Mr. Yulee announced the reception of official intelligence that his State had seceded, and, consequently, that he and his colleague were no longer Senators. He read a valedictory giving the reasons which had induced Florida to secede. Mr. Mallory also delivered a valedictory. Mr. Clay, of Ala., on behalf of himself and Mr. Fitzpatrick, also withdrew in consequence of official intelligence of the secession of Alabama. Mr. Davis announced the secession of Mississippi, and made a speech, after which the seceding Senators rose and left the Hall, first taking leave of their old associates. Florida Convention. Tallahassee,, Jan. 21. --The Convention adjourned to-day to meet again at the call of the President. The Hon. S. K. Mallory has been appointed by the Governor, and confirmed by the Senate, Judge of Admiralty at Key West, vice Marvin, removed.
