Under these circumstances we feel assured that it is only necessary to acquaint our patriotic citizens of the Confederacy with the work we are cheerfully performing, and the responsibility we are assuming, to receive from them a cordial and substantial evidence of their appreciation of our labors, in mitigating the hardships and contributing to the comforts of the defenders of our soil. We invoke the aid of the corporate authorities of the different towns and cities throughout the Confederacy, and would suggest that they call on their citizens to contribute to this great work before us.
