It entered into camp for the winter at Bealton Station, Va., remaining there from December, 1863, to May, 1864.
In May, 1864, it was engaged at the Wilderness, Va.; in position at Laurel Hill, Va., from May 8 to 15 with heavy loss, Captain Martin being wounded through the neck; engaged at North Anna River, Va., May 23, and at Shady Grove Church, Va., from May 30 to June 3, 1864.
