and an election was had of officers to serve permanently, at Midway, Gadsden county, where they were in camp about three weeks. The officers elected and appointed were as follows: W. S. Dilworth, colonel; L. A. Church, lieutenant-colonel; E. Mashburn, major; Captain Hickman, quartermaster; Capt. D. Lewes, commissary; Dr. Cam, surgeon; Dr. M. G. Jordan, assistant surgeon; H. Steele, adjutant; C. H. Stebbins, sergeant-major; P. E. Lowe, commissaryser-geant; Theodore Bridier, ordnance-sergeanuntry, said General Bate, of the services of a most gallant and efficient officer. In the final reorganization of the Army April 9th, the remnants of the brigade were consolidated in one regiment, the First Florida, under command of Lieut.-Col. Elisha Mashburn, in Gen. James A. Smith's brigade, Brown's (late Cleburne's) division, Hardee's corps, and thus it was surrendered with the army at Greensboro, April 26th, and disbanded at Augusta, Ga., May 14, 1865.
