Heavy Robbery.
--The police and detective force of Richmond on Saturday received a telegraphic dispatch from Savannah, notifying them that $43,700 in gold, belonging to the Merchants' Bank of that city, had been stolen from the express ears of the Central read while on route for Mason.
The object of the notification was to request assistance from the Richmond police.
The sum of $5,000 in gold was offered as a reward for the recovery of the money, and a proportionates sum for the detection of the thief.
