The first meeting to consider matters in relation to the war was held on the 13th of May, at which A. C. Mayhew, Obed Daniels, Winslow Battles, J. S. Scammell, A. C. Withington, F. A. Johnson, and A. W. Walcott were appointed to consider and report a plan of procedure in relation to the course the town should adopt in respect to the war. This committee reported that the town appropriate three thousand dollars to equip the soldiers of Milford who have enlisted, and for incidental expenses; two thousand dollars for a contingent war fund; and ten thousand dollars to pay State aid to soldiers' familie
