House of Delegates. Monday, May 12, 1862. The House was opened with prayer by the Rev. Dr. Woodridge, of the P E Church. Mr. Crockett presented a communication from Judges A S Fulton, David McComas, Evermont Ward, and G D Camden deputed by the citizens of Southwestern Virginia to petition the General Assembly to use all his exertions towards the restoration of Gen. John B Floyd to his command. The communication called attention to the fact that Southwestern Virginia possesses more means for the successful prosecution of the war, in the shape of salt, lead, and iron, than any other section of country of its extent in the entire confederacy. How that this valuable region was threatened by the enemy, it is important that it should be well defended.
