Northern Items. --Donald McKay, of Boston, has ready for shipment to France and England sixteen hundred tons of white oak ship timber, for which he is to receive sixty dollars per ton. One-half of it is in Boston, and the other half in Delaware. Is the Secretary of the Navy aware of this fact! The jury in the case of Samuel H. Merritt, tried for the murder of John Swain, Secessionist, before Judge McCunn, in the General Sessions, New York, came into Court on the 23th inst.--having been locked up during the night — with a verdict of manslaughter in the third degree. The jury recommended Merritt to mercy.
