McRae's battery was composed of men of Company G of Company I of the 3d Regular Cavalry. Captain Alexander McRae, 3d Cavalry, was in command, with LymUnion guns, under the skill and conduct of Captain McRae and Lieutenant Hall, silenced the Confedert the result was different on the Union left.
