We notice the arrival in this place of Dr. Alexis Mercier, sent by the Governor of Louisiana and the "Permanent Association for the Aid and Relief of all the Sick and Wounded of our army from New Orleans." The Doctor has for his mission to visit all the Hospitals and ambulances, to ascertain what may be the wants of the sick and wounded, and to supply their wants so far as the means of the Association will permit. W. L. Lanier. Esq., of New Orleans, has also arrived here. He is sentlief of all the Sick and Wounded of our army from New Orleans." Hotel. Richmond, on Tuesday evening, September 3, 1861, Mr. S. L. Chambliss was called to the Chair, and H. N. Young appointed Secretary. On motion of Dr. Alexis Mercier, the Chairman was called upon for his report of the condition and wants of the Louisiana volunteers North of Manassas. The report being read, on motion of Dr. Mercier said report was accepted and ordered to be printed in the Richmond Whig and Dispatch. Mutual shooting. --Alexis Mercier, one of the proprietors of the Secession Club Restaurant, and a man named Michael O'Connor, were arrested on Saturday for shooting at each other in the Club House. Neither party was hurt. The dispute arose about the size of a bill for refreshments. Alderman Sanxay bailed the parties for their appearance before the Mayor this morning.
Continued. --Alexis Mercier and Michael O'Connor were brought before the Mayor yesterday, charged with shooting at each other, on Friday night last, at the Secession Club Restaurant, on Main street. Mercier, keeper of the saloon, was shot through the arm, and O'Connor was shot through the mouth, having six of his teeth removed by the operation. No witnesses appearing against either party, the examination was continued until the 30th ult., the parties being admitted to bail for their appeaed. --Alexis Mercier and Michael O'Connor were brought before the Mayor yesterday, charged with shooting at each other, on Friday night last, at the Secession Club Restaurant, on Main street. Dismissed. --The case of Alexis Mercier and Michael O'Conner, charged with shooting one another in the Secession Club Restaurant, a few days ago, was dismissed on yesterday, the efforts of the Mayor to obtain evidence in the affair having proved abortive.
