The clerk broke a a loaded cane over his head, and supposing him dead, an officer dragged him into the street by the hind legs. Suddenly recovering, he darted off again, dashed into Meyer's cigar store, corner of Chartres and St. Peter streets, upset some thousand cigars, then started out and visited the lawyers' offices on the row, causing such a scattering as had not disturbed that quiet neighborhood for years before. What became of the dog we could not find out.
