Antics of a mad dog.
--The New Orleans Bee, of the 20th, says:
Yesterday morning a large dog, with the froth streaming from his jaws, and his eyeballs portruding, made a straight dash for the door of the Second District police office. --Boullosa, who was in his way, threw a chair at him, which caught him round the neck. --Getting loose from that, he tried to jump through the palings at the clerk, but was caught at the haunches.
The clerk broke a a loaded cane over his head, and supposing him dead, an officer dragged him into the street by the hind legs.
Suddenly recovering, he darted off again, dashed into Meyer's cigar store, corner of Chartres and St.
Peter streets, upset some thousand cigars, then started out and visited the lawyers' offices on the row, causing such a scattering as had not disturbed that quiet neighborhood for years before.
What became of the dog we could not find out.
