er of Camp Marion, U. C. V. He was married, May 6, 1869, to Miss Sallie A. McIntyre, and they have five children: Sophie E., now Mrs. C. E. Evans, of Marion; Mary E., now Mrs. T. L. Stockhouse, of Marion; Lilian J., Frank A. and Lanneau W. John C. Millar, a Confederate veteran now occupying a worthy place in the legal profession of Charleston, was born at that city in 1845, and there reared and educated until his studies were interrupted by the war. In the spring of 1861, though but sixteen yleston taking part in the battles of Averasboro and Bentonville, his regiment suffering severely in the latter engagement. During the war his father had taken the family to Barnwell county, and purchased large tracts of farming land, and there Mr. Millar remained for several years after the close of hostilities, engaged in farming and reading law. About 1876 he was admitted to the bar at Charleston, where he made his home, and has ever since been engaged with much success in the practice. Jo
