M. Krakar, upon the the charge of giving false lists to the Collector of the War Taxes in his district, was examined on yesterday before Alex. H. Sands, a commissioner appointed for that purpose. The accused appeared by Messrs. W. W. Crump and G. A. Myers, his counsel. Pleasant Gentry, Deputy Collector, testified that he called on Krakar, who keeps two stores, on the 23d of October last for his lists, when two lists were furnished him; one of them being for $600; the amount of the other he could not recollect; that he thereupon carried the papers to the office of Mr. C. J. Sinton, the Collector; that he afterwards called upon Krakar again, and he furnished him with a list to the amount of $1,350, which he afterwards increased to $1,560; that upon suspicion of foul play in the returns given, Krakar was arrested.--Several other witnesses were examined, whose testimony corroborated that of the first witness, showing that the suspicious of the Collector were well founded.
