I suppose I can detail any brigadier, said the governor. So do I, said I. While this conversation was going on, the Treasurer of the Commonwealth, Gen. Henry K. Oliver, came into the governor's room, and after salutation, said:-- Governor, as you requested, I have been examining the condition of the affairs of the trevery considerably, and we understand by the telegram that there is great urgency for haste in getting troops to Washington. The governor said: What shall we do? Oliver answered: We shall have to call a meeting of the legislature, and get an appropriation, but that will delay matters considerably.
