Ortega surprised and defeated Gen. Marquez at the hacienda of Alenco. On the night of the 13th Gen. Ortega attacked Marquez again in the town of Jalatlaco and dispersed his entire force. It is now know with certainty that the English and French fleets are before Tampico and Vera Crus.
