Our division changed its camping place several times, but nearly all the time we were either on Duck River or Flat Creek in the bounds of my second pastoral charge, where I found many friends. It was well for me, for I was sick much of this time. The kindness and hospitality of the people were greatly appreciated. I give brief items from my journal of January to July, 1863. January l0. The Eleventh Tennessee, so long with our command, is transferred, and we got the Thirty-ninth North Carolina in lieu of the Eleventh, which we give up with real regret. Sunday
