Perry, Benjamin Franklin 1805-1886
Lawyer; born in Pendleton District, S. C., Nov. 20, 1805; was admitted to the bar in 1827; was a strong Unionist, and was instrumental in organizing a Union party in South Carolina; founded a Union paper in Greenville, S. C., in 1850, entitled The Southern patriot.
In 1860 he made strenuous efforts to prevent the secession of the State, but, being unsuccessful, embraced the Southern cause.
His publications include Reminiscences of public men; and Sketcheumental in organizing a Union party in South Carolina; founded a Union paper in Greenville, S. C., in 1850, entitled The Southern patriot.
