Death of a gallant soldier. --It is with sorrow that we record the death of Mr. Wm. J. Poindexter, son of Rev. A. M. Poindexter, D. D., of this city, by the accidental discharge of his pistol while on picket duty. He was one of the first to enlist, and so gallantly had he borne himself from the day that he entered the service to the day of his death that he enjoyed the esteem and affection of all who knew him.
