The 12th corps is temporarily commanded by Gen. Sedgwick, while Gen. Banks commands in the city of Washington. "M'Clellan's great victory — now forward to Richmond." The New York Herald says "McClellan's important victory of Sunday over the great liberating rebel army of General Lee, in Maryland, marks a turn of the tide of war
