Rich, who claimed to be a Captain in the Confederate army, and desired a pass into the land of Seche found himself unwittingly placed in a very unpleasant and delicate position with regard to Captain Rich, and he thought his duty to the Government demanded that he should lay the case before the Uninstructed by the Government.
