"The regular monthly meeting of the Council was held yesterday at 4 o'clock P. M.
Mr. Richardson, from the Committee on Hospitals, read a report recommending the increase of charges for patients to the following rates: For whites, $7 a day; negroes, $5; small children, half price; and recommending that the hospital physician be paid $10 a day when there are one or more patients in the hospital.
Mr. Hill offered the following, which was adopted:
Resolved, That the Mayor be authorized to raise one or more volunteer companies of mounted police for the protection of the city.
