rday and Sunday night the 531, Col. Owens, and 431 Col. Kenan's regiments, were engaged in throwing up heavy earthworks on Rodman's Point. Behind these will be mounted to-night three heavy guns. No firing anywhere this morning. On the north side of the river the troops under command of Gen. Garnett have been gradually drawing in their fold, and I was told on Sunday that Capt. Starr had his two Howitzers in 80 yards of the town. Whenever the signal for general attack is made, Gen. Garnett's brigade, with the North Carolina regiments he has, will advance and storm the town. When that will be, it is impossible to tell. To morrow all the heavy guns necessary will be here and in place. Riley's battery is on the way, and may be waited for — but delays are dangerous." Mayor's Court. --A number of cases were disposed of by the Mayor yesterday. A summary of which we subjoin: Jack O'Donnell was brought up for assaulting and beating an old woman named Catherine Riley. The latter testified to a slap which she said O'Donnell gave her.
