Cavalry officers.
--By recent promotions, the following appointments in the Cavalry have been made.
We stated yesterday inadvertently that the Sixth Regiment of Cavalry was commanded by Col. Ewell.
The Colonel has been promoted to the post of Brigadier General.
Sixth Regiment Virginia Cavalry.--Colonel, Charles W. Field; Lieutenant-Colonel, Julian Harrison; Major, J. G. Cabell.
Fourth Regiment Virginia Cavalry.--Colonel, B. H. Robinson; Lieutenant-Colonel, Williams C. Wickham; Major, William H. Payne. Lieutenant-Colonel Harrison was transferred from the Fourth to the Sixth, and Lieutenant-Colonel Wickham from the Sixth to the Fourth Regiment. Major Payne was formerly Captain of the Black Horse troop; Lieutenant-Colonel Harrison, of the Goochland troop; Major Cabell, of the Governor's Guard; Lieutenant-Colonel Wickham, of the Hanover troop.
