Sackville, George Germain, Viscount 1716-
Military officer; born in England, Jan. 26, 1716; educated at Trinity College, Dublin; won distinction in the British army; promoted lieutenant-general in 1758; was secretary of state for the colonies during the Revolutionary War and was especially bitter against the Americans; created Viscount in February, 1782.
He died Aug. 26, 1785.
