--In pursuance pronounced on the 6th day of January, 1864.
om the cause styled Garthright vs Garthright, &c, the undersigned, who was appointed Special Commissioner therein, will proceed to sell on Monday, the 18th day of January, 1864, at 12 o'clock M, in front of the State Court-House, in the city of Richmond, one slave named Fleming.
He is about 27 years of age, and is a good house-servant.

Giving in false returns.
--Commissioner Sands continued his examination yesterday of parties for rendering false returns to the Assessor of the C. S. War Tax. Peter Lawson, a butcher in the Second Market, was put upon trial, and after a hearing of the evidence against him, he was remanded for indictment, and admitted to bail in the sum of $1,000 for his appearance on the 10th day of February next.
This makes the fourth butcher from the Second Market who has been arraigned before the Commissioner for attempting to deceive the Government Assessor in the collection of the war tax.
