f a warrant on the Chamberlain, the same having been lost, and recommended the renewal of the same with the usual security. Also, on the application of Messrs. Jones & Slater, asking for a change in the form of a bond for money due them by the city, and recommending that the said bond be paid, so as to save the trouble of modification. The reports were agreed to. Mr. Stokes, from the Committee on the First Market, reported that the committee had under consideration the petition of John P. Sledd, butcher, asking reinstatement in the market as a butcher, and recommended that the prayer of the petitioner be granted.--Agreed to. Mr. Scott, from the Committee on the Fire Department, submitted a report upon the recent fire which occurred on Main street some time since, at which Mr. Joseph Stebbins and his family were burnt to death. The report exonerates the firemen from all blame in the matter. Mr. Scott, from the same committee, also submitted an ordinance increasing the
