The steamship Asia with Liverpool dates of the 5th instant two days later has arrived. The summary of her news in the New York papers says that "the English papers compliment the North for its efforts in Maryland, and agree in favor of the most premising results therefrom." Messrs. Heath and Slidell had written to the Press journals to say they had no official knowledge of their fault.
