Robbery. --For a short time past, various articles have been missed from the store of Messrs. Richardson & Co., and suspicion fell upon two negroes, both named William, one belonging to Mr. Robert Richardson and the other to Mrs. Dolly Smith. The stolen property was found in the house of Elizabeth Woodcock, who frankly stated that it was left there by the two Williams. The case was investigated yesterday by Recorder Caskie, and the negroes were remanded to be tried for stealing several rugs and pieces of carpeting, though a large quantity of valuable articles, such as pictures, jewelry, shoes, fine napkins, and cotton cloth, were found in the house occupied by the wife of one of the prisoners, for which no claimant has yet appeared. That the prisoners have turned out to be bad Bills, there seems to be no doubt at present. Mrs. Woodcock was remanded for examination before a called court, on the 19th inst., on a charge of receiving stolen goods.
