The 2d U. S. Cavalry. --The officers of this famous regiment in the old service were: Colonel, Albert Sidney Johnston; Lt. Colonels Robert E. Lee; Majors, Wm. J. Hardee, and the Yankee General, George H. Thomas. Among the Captains were Earl Van Dorn, Edmund Kirby Smith, Nathan G. Evans, and the Yankee General, Stoneman; while John B. Hood was a first, and Fitzhugh Lee a second, Lieutenant.
