--Elizabeth M. Smith, of Burlington, N. J., has patented a much-desired improvement in reaping and mowing machines, which renders their use a matter of safety, consisting of a device for throwing them in and out of gear by means of the driver's seat.
Thus, when the driver takes his seat his weight throws it into gear, and when he leaves his seat the machine is thrown out of gear.
