Garroting.
--James Smith, Michael Holland Patrick Livingston, Wm. H. Baker and Wm. H. Brown, were before the Mayor yesterday to answer the charge of garroting and robbing Philip L. Gregory of $87 in money and a silver watch, on Saturday last.
Gregory testfied that Brown was standing nigh convercing with a woman at the time of the robbery, and that Baker went off with the robbers.
Brown and Baker proved unexceptionable characters in the village in which they lived, as also in their regiment and company, where they were well known.
The Mayor sent all the parties on to an examining court, to be held next Monday, and refused them bail.
