Buckingham county. --A correspondent of the Petersburg Express, writing from the county of Buckingham, says: I have yet to meet with the first person who intends to raise a plant of tobacco for market. Notwithstanding the unprecedented high price of this article, and the consequent strong inducement thus offered to cultivate it, the tobacco lots are to be planted in corn and potatoes. Every farmer is petting in the large possible crop of corn, potatoes, peas, and such other things as will afford food for man or beast.--With favorable seasons we shall have plenty to eat, and General Starvation, whose expected advent has caused such fiendish joy in Yankee land, will fail as signally as the other human agencies which have been relied on by our boastful and cruel foe.
