Late in life he visited Andover, and recalled those early days in a letter to Mrs. Abigail Stearns, the daughter of Rev. Mr. French:— I went to Andover a few weeks ago, to look at the places which I began to know, 28 August, 1787. That was the day, , whose senior he was by four years, gave pleasant reminiscences of her childhood, and of his residence in Mr. French's family in his boyhood.
