Hustings Court. --The trial of Charles Murphy, for the murder of Albert, a negro slave, is still pending before Judge Lyons.--The evidence was closed yesterday, and the opening address for the Commonwealth was delivered by Attorney Tazewell. The counsel for the defence are Messrs. Johnson, Steger, and Crane.
Hastings Court. --The trial of Charles Murphy, for the murder of a slave named Albert, had not terminated at a late hour last evening. Messrs. Steger, Crane, and Johnson spoke yesterday in behalf of the prisoner, and Attorney Tazewell closed for the Commonwealth

On motion of Mr. Buford, it was Resolved, That a select committee of five be appointed to confer with the proper authorities of the Confederate Government in relation to the construction of a railroad between the town of Danville, Virginia, and the town of Greensboro', North Carolina, as recommended in the recent message of President D

Banks, Gatewood, Steger, Barbour, Anderson, of Rockbridge, Rutherfoord, Spady, Harrison, McCamant, Forbes, and Coleman of Fayette. Agriculture and Manufactures--Messrs. Orgain, Tylemending that prevision be taken to have the tobacco warehouses in the State made fire-proof. On motion of Mr. Blue, referred to the appropriate committee. Mr. Steger presented the memorial of the Common Council of the City of Richmond, asking the Legislature to pass a law legalizing the issue of $300,000 worth of small notesconfer wit the Confederate authorities in reference to the proposed railroad extension between Danville and Greensboro, N. C., was announced by the Speaker. Messrs, Buford, Wooten, Sheffey, Steger, Gilmer, Lively, McKinney, Kile, Riddick, Clark, Nelson of Fluvanna, and Richardson. On motion, the Houses then adjourned.
House of Delegates. The House met at 12 o'clock M. Prayer by Rev. Dr. Reed. Mr. Edmunds, of Halifax, in the Chair. Resolutions of inquiry. The following resolutions of inquiry were referred to the appropriate committees: By Mr. Steger: Of incorporating certain persons as "The Virginia Chemical Works," By Mr. Garrison: Of relieving the Sheriffs, Clerks, and Commissioners of the Revenue, from the penalties imposed by the laws of Virginia, for failure of duty, when such failure is occasioned by the presence of the enemy. The following 'special Committee,' on the leasing of the Salt Works, was appointed by the Speaker Messrs. Baskerville, George, Mallory, Shannon, Flood, Woodhouse and Walker. On motion the House adjourned.

salt was ordered on its second reading. On motion, it was Resolved, That cities and towns be reimbursed (from the State Treasury) for equipping volunteers. The following resolution, offered by Mr. Payne, was adopted: Resolved, That the Committee on Courts of Justice be instructed to inquire into the expediency of so amending the usury laws of this State that, in contracts hereafter entered into for the lending of money, the borrower may obligate himself so pay such taxes as the State of Virginia may levy on said money. Mr. Baskerville offered a resolution to continue in force the present stay law sixty instead of thirty days from the meeting of the General Assembly, which was laid on the table. Mr. Steger offered a resolution, which was adopted, that the Committee on the Courts of Justice be instructed to inquire into the expediency of reporting an ordinance providing for the speedy collection of rents. On motion of Mr. Blus, the House adjourned.
