United States Irons --A Washington dispatch in the Philadelphia Inquirer gives the following explanation of the Yankee raid that was checked at Kelly's Ford on the 19th inst: It is understood that the advance of Gen Stoneman was a merely to ascertain the locality of the main body of rebels, and to discover whether any considerable force has been sent to the Shenandoah Valley. As a part of the programme, the destruction of the railroad communications with Lynchburg and other Virginia localities was also embraced. Rev.
